Session 6 Production Project

SUMMARY

Role: Editor

Intention (SMART Goal)

My goal is for me to be able to know how to color grade correctly and make sure the shots have a clean cut. I also want to make sure that I watch enough tutorials, and know how to use the color grading tools in premiere pro.

This interview is showing how Jeff Groth explained how he has his workflow in editing, and how he thinks someone should edit a film.

This movie clip from the joker shows how Jeff Groth edited the shots to make the clip feel unsettling in some way. The way some clips speed up and then slow down shows how the editor wanted to be precise about every moment in the shots. The cuts are rough, but in a good unsettling way like something is about to happen.

Training Sources

  • We will then look over the storyboard and start filming those shots
  • We should then make a team folder and put in our shots into the shared folder for the editor
  • Have the shots be organized, and name all the files
  • Have the sound designer be working on the composition the whole time
  • Have the cinematographer look over the footage
  • Have the sound designer give the composition to the editor to include in the film
  • Have the editor make final touches if time
  • Export the film into Le Duc’s folder
